Media & Entertainment
Intermediary’s Media & Entertainment Practice covers virtually every major sector of the media and entertainment industries.
Firm attorneys have substantial experience in broadcasting, cable, satellite and tower regulations. The practice encompasses representation of clients in the sale and acquisition of television and radio stations, regulation of cable and satellite companies as well as counseling for matters involving the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Firm clients include major group owners, publicly traded companies, religious broadcasters, smaller companies, national governing bodies of sport, professional sports leagues, and independent producers.
Entertainment is yet another aspect of the firm’s practice. Our attorneys have participated in the negotiation of over $1 billion in contracts and other activities that involve the entertainment industry. Clients include movie producers, television production companies, satellite and cable programmers, independent producers, individual entertainers, and authors.
In all matters – whether in broadcasting and other media, entertainment, telecommunications, or Internet services – firm attorneys assist clients with the full range of necessary services, including the negotiation of acquisition or financing agreements, licensing contracts, the preparation and prosecution of applications before the FCC, Copyright Office, or U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, participation in administrative proceedings, the provision of advice concerning compliance with applicable federal and state administrative rules and policies, presentations before arms of Congress, federal agencies and state legislatures, obtaining or providing advice with respect to clearances needed from the Department of Justice or the Federal Trade Commission, and, when needed, conduct litigation in federal and state courts. Where necessary, the firm’s attorneys are assisted by attorneys with additional expertise in corporate, tax, securities, antitrust, litigation, and related disciplines.
